This movie had me riveted from the very beginning. It was harrowingly realistic in portraying a post-apocolyptic world. You wont find any fancy special effects or super hero, rather an eye opening look at survival.
A family returns home in France from holiday to find it taken over by another family seeking shelter and refuge. The intruding family shoots the dad and orders the mother, Anne, to leave with her two children. The story then follows Anne while she copes with tragedies at hand and trying to provide for her children. What caused the apocolypse is never revealed, neither is salvation. Instead we watch as quality of life is put into perspective and priorites are shifted. Now, water and bicycles are more valuable than compassion or integrity.

S Darko

Why oh why did they have to make this film? Who told them this would be a good idea? This "sequel" to Donnie Darko was released straight to DVD and for good reason. It is not a sequel at all, rather an embarrassing fan remake. From perverted televangelists to religious zealots to Grandma Death, the hopeful plot duplicates every nuance of DD but fails to pull it off. S Darko is played by the same actress from DD (Daveigh Chase) and there any resemblance to the holy grail of my movie collection ends. Frank's character is also repeated but played by a guy who looks eerily like Jake Gyllenhaal in 10 years. Frank still has his signature bunny suit but has upgraded it to resemble a robot bunny caught in a barbed wire fence.
Samantha is on a road trip to LA with her best friend and begins to have "visions". Really she is sleepwalking and wreaking havoc like her older brother did, but unlike Donnie, she turns into an anorexic heroin addict who thinks she has to train Frank in the ways of time travel. Lots of irrelevant characters appears and senselessness ensues. Almost the entire cast dies at some point, only to be brought back again through the miracles of time travel.
All in all this movie has value if you need something to be completely offended by or just an outlet for venting. Otherwise, save yourself 2 hours of torture.
